Starting Again

I have been blogging for a while but my blog was dropped by my previous blog host. I changed the title. I used to be called Purify Your Bride. That was a reference to the church as the bride of Christ. The phrase was used in a song that I learned as an evangelical Christian. It resonated with me as I became Catholic. The question of what was the church and what did it look like was central to my conversion. I was meditating on that phrase quite a bit when I needed to pick a name over on the old Catholic Exchange forum. So I picked that name and kept is when I created a blog. But that phrase does not resonate with me as much anymore. I now believe the church is pure in the most important ways. It has been preserved from impurity and does not need to be fixed. So the name does not really fit anymore.

  1. Dude Randy I didn't know what happened to your old blog as it just gave an error message when I visited, but then I found this one by looking at my incoming links!

It stinks that all of your old posts are gone and there is no way to direct people to your new blog.

On the plus side, I actually saw a picture of you coaching soccer!

  2. I am a bit confused about St Blogs. I thought I was precisely the kind of blogger they were after. I guess I was wrong. Anyway, it gives me a chance to revisit some topics and try and formulate my thoughts better. Not sure how long it will take before people find me. It didn't take you long so that is encouraging.

  3. Hi Randy,

I totally don't understand why st. blogs would not want your blog???? Bizarre. One other friend had her blog at st. blogs but it lost most of her posts and so she left it.

I will make a post linking to your blog. God bless my friend!

Glad to have stumbled across your new blog as I was a fan of the old. Consider me subscribed.

  5. Thanks for the link Devin. My thinking was that my readers were not clicking on enough ads. So maybe I was not generating enough revenue. Whatever.

Thanks for reading Tim. Great to hear from you.

  6. I'm now subscribed, too, and share in the the confusion as to why your blog would've been dropped. You're such a great writer and thinker; each time I see a new post in my RSS reader I become excited.

  7. I was reading your old posts, going through archives and it is a pity not to be able to continue reading them anymore. I enjoy reading your posts and so i am consoled to read your fresh posts. I am a protestant looking closely to RCC doctrines. Thanks and God bless at this new blog.

  8. Thanks for that Leonard. I recently had occasion to read a few posts from 2007 again. My dad always talked about how he would read his old sermons and think there were just awful. Sometimes he didn't even agree with them anymore. I actually thought I was pretty thoughtful 3 years ago. I wondered more if I had lost something. Grammar and spelling were terrible but there was some good stuff there.

That is what I was talking about with revisiting some of these ideas. I was thinking of doing that before the unfortunate incident. I wonder if taking my old blog away is God's way of giving me an extra push in that direction.

  9. Oh and by the way, I'm not sure whether or not you saved your posts to your computer, but you can recover your old St. Blogs posts through an RSS reader. If you subscribe to the old RSS feed, you should be able to see all past posts.

    I'm pretty sure, at least.

  10. Hi Randy,

It took me a while to find you, but I just did thanks to a link by one of your friends. I thought your blog was just down due to technical reasons, but it never did come back up.

I too am saddened by the loss of your previous posts (not to mention my VERY important comments :)

  11. Glad to have you back Rob. Sorry to lose your comments. When it is my stuff I feel like I can always just reproduce the effort. When it is other people that is not possible.
